This morning, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he wants to cut off trade with Spain over a dispute over the use of jointly operated military bases on Spanish soil. Friedrich Merz, the Chancellor of Germany, agrees that Spain has not been compliant with increasing its military spending as a NATO member. On the other hand, France has joined Spain in condemning the US-Israel attack on Iran. It is clear that the EU, which has already been heavily questioned in recent years, is no longer a unified force.
