Politics Without Character

President Trump recently stated that he would not apologize to Pope Leo for his inappropriate criticisms regarding the pope’s opposition to a potential nuclear conflict with Iran. This comment was particularly distasteful, especially following the image he shared on Truth Social, where he depicted himself as a healer descending from heaven, resembling Jesus. Trump’s dismissive attitude toward the church reflects the growing resentment many Christian Americans feel towards him. Although many initially supported his campaign, concerns about morality are increasingly valid.

As Christian Americans, we should expect more from Trump; he should acknowledge his misconduct as a religious leader and offer an apology. This situation raises an important question: what should we do if he refuses to apologize? It can be argued that this is a call to prioritize morality in our voting decisions and to stop separating politics from the person.
