Jim Carrey, the renowned actor, comedian, and two-time Golden Globe winner, recently accepted an award at the 51st César Awards, sparking online discussion from fans who remarked on how he had become practically unrecognizable. Some have even suggested that it wasn’t actually the real Jim Carrey at that award show at all.

Conspiracy theorists and fans of the actor have flocked to the internet over the weekend to point out all of the changes to Jim’s facial features and mannerisms, which do not seem consistent with how he was even just a few years prior. His jawline and speaking pattern appear different, and his eyes have changed color from brown to hazel/green. Many are also noting how Jim was previously left-handed and now appears to be right-handed. 

Some people are calling out these changes, saying they are creepy and even suggesting that the real Jim Carrey was killed and cloned. There is a common conspiracy theory that some Hollywood celebrities, such as Selena Gomez, have been cloned to appease occult groups that run Hollywood and the rest of the entertainment industry, and Jim Carrey is one of them. 

Others have argued that Jim was murdered because he had begun to turn his back on the industry. Over the past few years, the actor has been spiralling: showing up to events and claiming Jim Carrey doesn’t exist, stating that Hollywood is vapid and meaningless, and making bizarre hand gestures while claiming to be a part of the Illuminati.  

Many have theorized that, after the show, while giving an interview, Carrey said, “I’m dead” while talking about giving his speech in French, suggesting that he was subtly telling the public the real Jim is gone. Some have also remarked that Carrey retired from acting a few years ago, and in 2022, he supposedly stated that if he ever came out of retirement, it would not be him.  

Alternatively, some people are not convinced that it is a fake Jim Carrey and instead remark that he merely had some bad Botox, which altered his facial features. Others argue that his eyes changed color due to age and strong lighting from the event. They also state that Jim Carrey changing his dominant hand from left to right is untrue, as he was not left-handed in old videos of him. Additionally, a representative from the awards stated that the person at the show was the real Jim Carrey, but some people are still doubtful. 

Regardless, this outcry from fans and theorists online has only further displayed the growing lack of trust from the general public towards the media. And it does not appear like that trust will be regained anytime soon.
