Political Memes Diminish Consequences

Americans need to stop treating political incapability as a humorous aspect of public life. By doing so, we are presenting the idea to our political representatives that their behavior is unbothersome and acceptable. When American citizens see politicians present harmful arguments, speak disrespectfully about other governmental figures, and joke in an off putting manner, we should be calling them out rather than spreading memes. The progression into meme content instead of protesting for our political virtue had begun as a way of coping but now is extending to a way of silence. For this reason, our representatives continue to spread false information, insult fellow candidates, and act immorally, all while still winning our vote.
