A Suspicious Wildfire in Norway

A wildfire in Norway has torn through townhouses, destroying more than 100 homes and forcing over 400 people to evacuate in what is now considered the largest residential fire in modern Norwegian history. The fire broke out around 3:30 p.m. on Friday and quickly spread through the neighborhood of Drammen and towards nearby forests. One firefighter was slightly injured in the outbreak, but there have been no reported fatalities as of late. However, some news sources are reporting that the scene resembles a “war zone,” with collapsed houses and burnt cars. Some conspiracy theories have questioned the timing of this fire as suspicious, as just a month prior, Norway’s government proposed a legally binding bill to ban trade and investments linked to Israeli settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. With a growing sense of suspicion and resentment towards the Israeli government from younger generations, some suspect that the draft legislation, prohibiting the import and export of settlement goods, real estate purchases, and the acquisition of businesses, may be connected to the fires.
