The world is soon entering April, the height of spring. It is a season we associate with life and renewal, and yet, it is also the time when war—an unfortunately regular human activity—becomes intensified as weather conditions become favorable for armies.
This spring, things feel a bit more chaotic and violent than before. The Iran War continues on and is upheaving the global energy market. In Ukraine, Russian and Ukrainian forces are preparing for large offensives as the ground dries. And just below us, Cuba is in what appears to be a dire, crippled condition—who knows what will happen if the island nation’s government falls?
The idea of a “spring offensive” in which America and its allies all over the world are able to make gains against adversaries sounds appealing. If the current administration can handle everything going on all at once, perhaps there may be resounding victories and seismic shifts in geopolitics.
