On April 2nd, a school bus full of children was nearly struck by a moving train after the driver, Yvonne Hampton, chose to stop on the railroad tracks even after the warning lights activated and the crossing arms began to lower. Multiple videos captured the terrifying moments as the children screamed for their lives, and one video reportedly shows Hampton saying, “Not gonna stop for no train.” Hampton has since been arrested and is facing 29 counts of child neglect, but was recently released on bond. This incident was heinous and completely avoidable. The bus driver is solely at fault for placing those children in such a dangerous situation.
