American society has a rushing problem. Whether that be rushing to draw conclusions about our political events, to rushing through our professional pursuits, the individualism of America has become a toxicity by which we have turned away from patience and gratitude. This is demonstrated in various parts of our country, from our politicians to the graduation of unprepared high-school students. Americans are also sharing this feeling through their push for “slow-living”, and the budding “dopamine detox” movement dominated by low-tech proponents. Perhaps it’s a responsibility of our government, rather than enforcing unrealistic views of success, to instill morality in today’s generations.
