A Nervous Time for Two Venezuelans I Know

I know a website developer from Venezuela who, for many years, has tried his darndest to come to the United States.

I think I should leave him nameless for now. I don’t want to get him into any trouble.

I know, from years of email correspondence, he really doesn’t like the political and economic situation in Venezuela.

He was actually hoping, during the first Trump administration, the U.S. would invade Venezuela and liberate its citizens.

My Venezuelan friend LOVES Trump — at least he did last time we were in touch.

A year or two ago, my friend and his wife and two children successfully came to the U.S. using some kind of new visa protecting Venezuelans.

He and his wife couldn’t have been more thrilled and took fairly menial jobs in order to get started in America.  He’s rather be a website developer, but last I heard, he was working in a sales position at a car parts store. His wife took a job at Walmart.

Today, the Supreme Court said it was OK to send 350,000 Venezuelans back home.  I just heard from my friend — he said he is on some kind of UN visa and hasn’t been affected yet.

I can assure Team Trump my friend is as pro-America and pro-Trump as they come, and he could be a real contributor to the American economy if he’s allowed to stay.

I completely agree the border had been out of control for years and that something had to be done.  I hope there will be some opportunity for individual interviews in this case — as opposed to just sending them all home, all at once.

If my friend and his wife (and kids) get the opportunity to tell immigration authorities why they want to stay in America, I know they’ll make a very compelling case.
