A YouTuber’s Indie Film Takes #1

The independent film, Iron Lung, inspired by an indie video game, was recently released and managed to outperform Sam Raimi and Disney’s new film, becoming the number one movie in America for several days. This impressive achievement is particularly notable because the movie was entirely self-funded by renowned YouTuber Markiplier in his directorial debut and was not distributed by any major corporation.

Despite receiving low ratings from critics and being removed from some film-analytic rankings, the film has garnered a positive response from general audiences and fans. Ultimately, this success reflects a significant accomplishment for everyone involved in its creation, demonstrating that independent films can still be produced and connect with audiences without the backing of large corporations. As a fan of the game and someone who saw the film in theaters, I found it very enjoyable.
