The attack on the three nuclear facilities in Iran is generating a lot of turmoil and angst.
But what’s worse? Dealing with this situation in a forceful way — as Trump has done — or hanging around for the next 20-30 years wondering what Iran will do, what Israel will do, what Hamas and Hezbollah will do, etc.?
Iran and Israel were never going to end their conflict on their own; at least now Trump has ripped off the Band-Aid, and we can see what happens next. Israel’s taking out Iran’s air defenses created a rare opportunity to do something bold, and Trump, ever the opportunist, took it.
There is no way to know for sure how this will all work out. We might regret this action mightily or look back on this in a few years as a masterstroke that opened the doors to a much wider Middle Eastern peace.
Doing nothing poses risks, too. I think taking out Iran’s nuclear facilities at this time was the right move.
Fingers crossed.
