Operation Mediocre Apathy

It’s been a little over a month since Operation Epic Fury began. Did you forget the name of the military operation? I wouldn’t blame you, after seeing how President Donald Trump declared a ceasefire and willingness to negotiate with the Iranian regime. After all this, will America really fold because Iran decided to take the Strait of Hormuz hostage?

Keep in mind, I am not criticizing the American military. Contrary to most news outlets, the American military has crippled the Iranian military, navy, Islamic Guard and its militant allies. It will take a long while for Iran to recover.

But, Trump is seemingly seeking the off ramp despite not fully tackling the issue over Iran’s nuclear program. The Iranian regime now has a grip upon the world economy by having a de facto authority over the Strait of Hormuz. And the regime that killed possibly around 30,000 of its own people is still intact. Even if most of its leadership has been killed, the remnants are even more hardline, and will most likely stamp out dissident voices as soon as the ceasefire gets cemented.

By now, Trump should know that Iran is not likely to agree with any demands, or even follow them. Yes, a continuing war in Iran may impact midterm elections this fall. But you know what would be worse for America in the long run? An Iran that rebuilds and causes more trouble again and again.
