The first episode of the United Kingdom’s “Saturday Night Live” portrays the anxiety of calling President Trump and telling him the country won’t help with the Iran war, as UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer struggles to stay on the phone. In a fun move, the British government hires a teen influencer to coach Starmer through his emotions. Starmer’s eventual voicemail to Trump references fun memories like “Remember when the whole cast of Friends went to England?”
The Onion takes tensions between Trump’s America and NATO to a logical extreme, as Trump thinks the global community isn’t pulling their weight in creating human suffering. He creates a benchmark that 3.5% of a country’s budget should be committed to making things worse for its citizens. The president is seriously concerned that some of Earth’s residents might actually survive the end of the decade.
3. Terrorist Gives Up After Three Hours in TSA Line – The Babylon Bee
The Babylon Bee manages to combine two major stories into one this week, as long TSA lines due to the DHS shutdown meets global terrorism. A terrorist gives up on his plans to blow up an airplane due to the line, and, in a funny moment, decides to yell at women for not wearing hijabs instead. Naturally, the TSA considers this moment a big win in the war on terror, and makes plans to make the lines even longer. For America.
4. Trump Declares Victory In Vietnam War – Humor Times
A columnist at Humor Times takes the Trump Administration’s aggressive claims of victory in Iran and applies it to the long-settled American defeat in Vietnam. The president promises to change the Vietnam War Memorial to the Vietnam War Winners’ Wall. And the arbitrary nature of these war victory announcements is made explicit when Trump says he may accelerate the official announcement of victory in Iran so it can match the “victory in Vietnam” holiday.
5. Desi Lydic Shudders At Politician’s Cringe Vids – The Daily Show
The Daily Show makes fun of easy targets with politicians attempting to make online content, like Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA), making forced McDonald’s puns in an attempt to insult SNAP food stamps. The show gets a lot of mileage from Representative Tim Burchett (R-TN) making a video podcast out of dryly interviewing the owner of a hot rod shop and his son. The democrats don’t leave unscathed either, as Governor Andy Beshear (D-KY) tries to describe how he will talk casually on his podcast, but manages to come off stiff while doing so, awkwardly trying to squeeze in the phrase “You do you, Boo.” As far as political humor goes, this is definitely the lighter fun that you need sometimes to balance things out.
