Progressive and Independent candidates have been doing well lately. These upstart candidates make clear they are tired of the old guard Democrats who have held a stranglehold on the Democratic party for years now.
Too many from the Democratic old guard are too old, too corporate, too boring, too much like Republicans. Young people, especially, want change.
While some of these upstart candidates are running as true independents, many choose to run from within the Democratic party.
The media is making a big deal out of the fact that Democrats are “divided.” I don’t see it that way.
If more progressives and independents get on the ballot, I see this as an opportunity to expand the ranks of Democrats — or at least shrink the electoral prospects of the Republicans.
In some states, Democrats are now backing Independents because they know a Democrat can’t win.
The laws of physics tell us that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. The overreach of the Trumpsters is bringing about the rise of the progressives and independents.
Having more passionate voices from across the spectrum can only be a good thing. If Democrats can make room for the upstarts, that can only help Democrats.
