Peace is Desirable, But Not If It Is Hypocritical

After another series of threats, President Donald Trump has announced that a peace plan with Iran is almost done and that a time to sign it needs to be determined. While Iranian state media denies this, President Trump is being oddly specific this time around, leading some to believe that this peace plan may be genuine.

Peace is desirable, but it isn’t always good. Premature peace with Iran may lead to several issues down the road, such as their nuclear program, their control over the Strait of Hormuz and how they treat their citizens.

This war began because the Trump Administration feared an Iran with a nuclear weapon would be a threat to the entire world. Moral causes were attached to it as well. President Trump promised to come to the rescue of the Iranian people after thousands of them were massacred by their own military. Also, America’s allies in the Middle East have endured unjustified, unprompted Iranian attacks on their territory and people.

Yes, Iran has been weakened, but it will be meaningless if the Trump Administration is willing to compromise on important, yet unresolved issues that have not been settled by Iran.
