Homeless Encampments in San Francisco Have Ruined the City’s Reputation

Throughout the past years, a very clear trend has emerged in American migration patterns. Progressive strongholds, such as California, New York, Illinois, and Massachusetts, have seen a massive net outflow of American citizens. Whereas more conservative states such as Florida, Texas, and Tennessee have seen massive net positive domestic migration. Even though many of the aforementioned blue states rank higher in average incomes, their extreme tax burdens disincentivize businesses and high-income earners from staying. In contrast, the aforementioned red states have no state income tax. Furthermore, soft-on-crime policies that have resulted in worsening homelessness and crime scenes in cities like San Francisco, which have only accelerated these migration trends.

Moreover, when a state’s population shrinks, it loses seats in the House of Representatives and electors in the Electoral College. Democrat politicians are aware of this and have found a way to blunt their population declines: foreign immigration. Many cities, counties, and even entire states that Democrats control have designated themselves as sanctuaries for undocumented immigrants, limiting their local authorities from enforcing federal immigration law. And given that said immigrants are counted in the Census every 10 years, the Democrats will only be able to use this to their advantage.
